The Town of Palmer Lake is a quaint town nestled at the base of the National Forest. Population is estimated at around 2200 people. Palmer Lake is a Statutory Town in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. Palmer Lake was founded by General William Jackson Palmer in 1871. A few years later the town was incorporated in 1889.
There are two towns that make up the Tri-Lakes community. While much of the area is dedicated to residential development, the Tri-Lakes, Colorado region is known for its three lakes: Palmer Lake, Monument Lake and Woodmoor Lake.

The Palmer Lake Christmas Star on Sundance Mountain has been part of the local landscape for the better part of the 20th century.
The five-pointed star, measuring 500 feet across and consisting of 91, 40-watt non-glare bulbs, is lighted for the month of December and on other special occasions such as the release of the hostages in Iran and the end of Desert Storm.
The star dates back to 1934, when several members of Palmer Lake came up with the idea. Construction on the project was a community effort.
